Scope and owner
This policy describes Luma 1.4.0, including the iOS release. Yusuf Suhair is the app owner and can be contacted at yusufmohdsuhair@gmail.com. This website supplies app support and privacy information.
Information kept on your device
Luma stores bedtime and wake-up times, awake minutes, optional feeling ratings, notes, context tags, and whether an entry is main sleep or a nap. It also stores your chosen sleep goal and schedule, appearance, reminder and haptic preferences, routine history, onboarding state and an active timer’s start time.
Imported Apple Health episodes include source information and refresh status. Confirmed phone estimates become journal entries. The journal and preferences use local app storage. Luma has no account system, app backend, advertising SDK, analytics SDK or app-managed cloud sync. It does not send these records to a developer-controlled service or use them for advertising or tracking.
Optional Apple Health access
On supported iPhones, Connect Apple Health explicitly requests read access to Sleep. Connecting also enables refresh on app open, as disclosed beside that action. Merely visiting setup does not request access. Luma does not write to Apple Health.
Readable sleep records are used to create local journal entries and calculate summaries. App-open or resume refresh is subject to a refresh interval; it is not continuous background monitoring. You can turn automatic refresh off and manage permission in iOS or Health settings.
HealthKit does not reveal whether read access was denied. Revoking access prevents future access as controlled by iOS but does not erase records already imported. Deleting a Luma entry does not delete its Apple Health source.
Optional phone motion estimates
The phone estimate preference defaults to on unless you have saved an off choice. This does not grant Motion & Fitness permission. Access is requested only through an explicit connection action, never by automatic app-open refresh.
Luma processes up to seven days of recent phone activity on the device to suggest a possible sleep window. You must confirm or edit a suggestion before it is saved. Raw motion history is processed temporarily, not retained or uploaded. Pending suggestion times, dismissed dates and refresh status are stored locally.
Turning phone estimates off clears pending suggestions. Clearing the journal, choosing samples or restoring a journal backup disables this feature and clears pending state. Confirmed entries remain until deleted or the journal is replaced. Permission can be managed in iPhone Settings. Luma does not access Screen Time or other apps’ activity and does not measure sleep stages or sleep quality.
Local reminders and haptics
If you enable reminders, Luma requests notification permission and schedules local notifications. These do not require a push-notification server. Notification permission can be changed in iOS settings. Haptic feedback is an optional interface effect and does not collect sensor measurements.
Exports, retention and deletion
An exported journal is unencrypted JSON deliberately copied to your clipboard. It can include sleep times, notes, ratings, tags, source information, sleep settings and timer or sync timestamps. The operating system or other apps may read or synchronize clipboard contents under their own rules and your settings.
Journal backups contain confirmed phone-based entries but exclude raw motion history, pending suggestions, dismissed dates and the phone estimate preference. They also exclude appearance, onboarding, reminder/haptic preferences and routine history. Restoration replaces the journal after confirmation rather than merging histories.
You can edit or delete individual entries, clear the journal or replace it with sample data. Clearing removes entries and an active timer and disables automatic Health refresh and phone estimates; it does not reset every preference. Exported copies and operating-system backups may remain outside Luma. Luma does not add an app-managed encryption layer; device access controls and operating-system protections apply.
Other collection and support
Luma does not record microphone audio or collect location. Its summaries are calculated from your recorded entries and chosen goal on the device.
If you email support, Yusuf Suhair receives the email address, message and attachments you choose to send through your email provider. TestFlight feedback, screenshots and crash information you choose to send through Apple’s beta tools may also be available to the developer. These voluntary communications are separate from the local journal. Do not include private sleep records or backup text unless you intend to share them.
This support website
These static pages do not contain an analytics SDK, advertising script, sign-in form or embedded contact form. Cloudflare Pages hosts the site and may process ordinary connection information, such as IP address and request details, to deliver and protect it. Email links open your email application. Website hosting and your email provider are separate from Luma’s on-device journal.
Changes and questions
This policy will be updated when the described data practices change. The effective date appears above. For privacy questions or questions about information you sent to support, email yusufmohdsuhair@gmail.com. The developer has no app server copy of your local journal to retrieve or delete.
