A personal journal for your nights
Luma 1.4.0 keeps your sleep journal, bedtime plan and recorded trends together. There is no account to create. You can finish welcome setup without connecting Apple Health or Motion & Fitness and use manual journaling.
Log or review a night
Start a night timer from Home, then choose Stop tracking to review the morning check-in before saving. The timer records elapsed time in bed, rather than measured sleep. Use Nights to add or edit main sleep and naps, with optional awake minutes, feelings, tags and notes.
Trends compares recorded nights with your chosen sleep goal. Missing nights are excluded from sleep-debt calculations; the app does not predict alertness or diagnose sleep conditions.
Apple Health shows no records
Apple Health import is optional and needs a supported iPhone with readable Sleep records. Use Connect Apple Health in welcome setup or the Sleep tracking sheet to request access. Luma reads Sleep information only and does not write to Health.
Check Luma’s Health permissions in iOS or Health settings and confirm that sleep records exist. No returned records can mean there is no readable data or data is not shared; HealthKit does not tell Luma that read access was denied. Imported journal entries are not removed automatically when Health access is revoked.
Phone estimates and permissions
Phone estimates use recent Motion & Fitness activity on a supported iPhone. Explicitly enable the connection and grant iOS permission. Review a proposed sleep window, edit it or dismiss it before it becomes a journal entry.
Stillness and movement are estimates, not measurements of sleep, sleep stages or the first screen touch. Manual logs and Health import can be used separately if Motion access is declined.
Reminders and appearance
Open You to manage reminder and haptic preferences, choose System, Light or Night appearance, or replay Welcome & setup. Reminder delivery depends on iOS permissions and system settings; these reminders are not a guaranteed alarm.
Keep a backup before replacing your journal
You includes Export backup and Restore backup. Export copies unencrypted JSON to the clipboard. Keep it somewhere private. Restore replaces your journal after confirmation and does not merge histories.
Clear journal and sample-data actions can replace or remove records. Deleting records in Luma does not delete source records in Apple Health or copies you exported. The developer cannot retrieve your local journal from an app server, because Luma has no such server.
